In 2009 Eastern Bank made the decision to outsource its payment processing operations. Facing the reality of declining check volume and looking for a way to better serve all of its customers' transaction needs by providing a more robust transaction solution set, Eastern Bank looked to an outsourced integrated receivables solution. The integrated receivables suite comprising wholesale remittance, remote capture, digital archive and workflow capabilities has been fully implemented. Eastern now not only uses this platform to process paperbased transactions but also is uniquely positioned to integrate electronic transactions, opening up market opportunities in deposit-lush verticals such as healthcare, transportation and property management. Eastern is making the transition with little or no upfront investment. Attend this session to discover how this suite of outsourced solutions has reduced the cost associated with processing customer payments, allowed the bank to focus on its core business, improved DSO, all while eliminating the capital cost to upgrade its in-house processing solution to take advantage of the improvements in technology. The ROI is expected to continue to improve based on the trends of paper declining in volume over time.
Learning objectives:
- Understand how to implement a next generation receivables solution
- Understand how to incorporate lockbox and remote capture capabilities
- Learn how to offer new services without increased infrastructure
- Analyze in-house vs. outsourced payment operations cost and benefit
