Check 21 Act – Check Clearing for the 21st Century

Check 21 legislation was implemented as an effort to reduce the check payment system’s dependence on physical check transportation, streamline check collection, and check return processing. ARC rules and the Check 21 law have changed the landscape to allow remittance and truncation of paper at the earliest point in the process, where corporations or institutions receive payments.

The TAWPI Payments Clearing and Capture Council (PCC) helps practitioners understand and address business and implementation issues related to the electronic conversion and truncation of paper checks, with particular emphasis on ARC, Check 21 and Image Exchange.  The mission of the PCC is to identify, understand, and contribute to the development of payment work processing that will benefit the future direction of remittance and item processing operations. Network with PCC members for cocktails and hors d'oeuvres and attend educational sessions where you will learn more about the Council and how they are addressing the latest issues in ARC, Check 21, and Image Exchange.
