I.      Announcements

  All present members introduced themselves.

II.     Discussion

Chapter Structure

  1. Patrick Graves reviewed how the Missouri/Kansas chapter will be geographically structured to include St. Louis and Kansas City (and those areas in between).  Attendees discussed ability to travel to Kansas City for meetings.  Approximately ¾ of the group would be willing/able to travel to Kansas City.
  2. Chapter name was discussed.  No suggestions were made other than the Missouri/Kansas Chapter.
  3. Annual Dues/Meeting Fees:  Differences between local and national dues were discussed.   These are separate dues and you do not need to join national to be a part of local.  Benefits of national were discussed (seminars, information sharing, expo’s, etc).  The $30 paid by the attendees in advance of the meeting included the annual local chapter dues as well as the current day meeting fee’s.  Future meetings would be subject to meeting fee’s only.

Governance

  1. Patrick reviewed the local Chapter officers needed.  A description was read for each of the 4 roles:  President, Vice President, Treasurer, and Secretary.  The local chapter would have a bank account.  Additional directors would be added as needed.  At this time, no one expressed an immediate interest in serving on the board, but a goal was set to have this done for the next chapter meeting.  The chapter is required to have 4 officers.

What can your Chapter do for you?

  1. Volunteering:  Various volunteer opportunities were discussed such as serving on chapter board, speaking at a meeting, hosting a meeting and sponsoring a meeting.   Patrick will obtain more information on sponsorship and hosting as members had questions on what that would entail.   A typical meeting sponsorship would run $300-$500.
  2. Chapter Survey:  Present members filled out a chapter survey.  A high level discussion followed on what they hope to gain from membership.  Main objectives:  networking, learn more about the various industries, process improvement, newest trends, QA, benchmarking information, performance metrics, staffing, peer exchange, data security, learn from others experiences, feedback,  and overall improvement/expansion of knowledge.

III.     Speaker

Michael Foye, a chapter member from MasterCard RPPS, presented       “Exploring various models to accept payments electronically to reduce the costs associated to paper payments”.  This presentation discussed the past, present and future of the paperless bill payment starting with the early 1980’s.  The presentation concluded with a future prediction (from the “Forrester Report”) that between 2005 and 2010 there would be 75% growth in paperless bill payments.

IV.     Conclusion

The meeting was concluded with a networking lunch.
